Weathered

We breathed fire, like dragons, we flew—
far beyond the mountain tops
high above the burning earth.
We soared the starry, snow-cloaked skies
and wove tapestries of the misty clouds
twisting in sooty smoke of the fiery ground.
We blazed paths that none ever dared to tread,
made maps of lands and seas—
carved a dynasty far ahead
where any else could be.
And in the miasma of our past, of war and toil and fear—
we can coil our tails and fold up our wings,
and so like dragons do our legends fade to myths you’d hear.
