there’s too much love in the world
too much unending Happy Endings
too many prince charmings
too many damsels in distress
somehow things have got out of balance
selfishness and shallowness
thinning the ranks
of what could be
a real relationship.
If this is a poem, I wouldn’t say so
because it’s a statement of fact
from the online venues
where the price tag is listed by profile
where the smile sells the simp
where photoshop can refashion the soul
from the bars downtown
where true colors fly
in a kaleidescope of strangeness
from the work place
from the lunch room
from the high school
from the bus
from the 5 a.m. rush hour
there’s too much love in the world
and since we’ve gotten used to seeing it
we’re blind to its radiance.
